Alaska Airman’s Association Sponsors Great Alaskan Gathering

A neurosurgeon with more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Kim B. Wright works at Laser Precision Spine Surgery (LP, which has offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla, Alaska. When not in the office, Kim B. Wright, MD is a pilot and flight instructor who belongs to the Alaska Airman’s Association.

Established in 1951, the Alaska Airman’s Association is a nonprofit organization that promotes and preserves aviation in Alaska. It has around 2,400 members, including pilots, mechanics, aviation enthusiasts, airline employees, and students. Members reside in five countries, 46 states, and 50 Alaskan villages and cities.

One way the organization encourages its members is through its Great Alaskan Gathering. The 2015 event, which was its 19th, took place on May 2 and 3 at the FedEx Maintenance Hangar in Anchorage. More than 275 aviation exhibitors attended and highlighted the latest in innovations, safety, and technology. Typically, more than 23,000 individuals attend this event, which is the largest aviation trade show in the state. The 2016 event occurs on April 30 through May 1.
